Susan Gantner
from
System i Developer

Bye, Bye SEU:
Time to Kick the Habit

Susan Gantner will present Bye, Bye SEU at a special CFMUG meeting on Tuesday, April 14. Susan is a popular speaker, writer and trainer as well as a seasoned RPG developer who uses RSE every day. At our meeting, Susan will show us why RSE has become her editor of choice and demonstrate how we can all optimize our coding productivity. Be sure to join us!

What You Will Learn
If you are a programmer who is still using SEU to edit your code, this session is custom-made for you. Making the switch to using RSE (Remote Systems Explorer) can greatly improve your productivity. And you can make the move for free. Come to this meeting to see why and how to make the switch. In this demonstration-filled session, Susan will show you a few of her favorite productivity features in RSE, such as:

* An interactive list of compile errors without ever opening a spool file-- click on an error to position to the line of code that needs change
* Removal of all those commented out lines of code from your editing view
* A live field and subroutine listing and cross reference, integrated with the editor
* View 2 to 3 times the number of source lines at a time
* Use your tab key to move between parts of the RPG spec without prompting
* Use Undo & Redo when editing source code!

Even if you are already an RSE user, come along to share your experiences. You may even pick up a new tip or 2. And everyone leaves with a handy RSE Keyboard Shortcut Keys reference card.

Susan Gantner, an RPG developer and one of the top speakers/writers/trainers on System i development topics, is currently a partner in Partner400 and a founding member of System i Developer, a consortium of top educators that host the RPG & DB2 Summit events. She speaks regularly at COMMON, the Summit and other technical conferences around the world, and she holds a number of Speaker Excellence medals from COMMON. Susan is also a Technical Editor with IBM Systems Magazine and co-author of one of the most popular System i Redbooks ever, Who Knew You Could Do That with RPG IV?

A Second Local Opportunity
You have probably heard that the RPG & DB2 Summit conference will be at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando next month, April 15-17. We have been in touch with the organizers --Skip Marchesani, Susan Gantner, Jon Paris and Paul Tuohy of System I Developers.

We have arranged for the members of CFMUG to attend the RPG & DB2 Summit at a significantly discounted rate. The Summit has the reputation for being an intimate, focused, fun educational event where developers can learn and consult with some of the top RPG and DB2 experts in the world. The session content is slanted towards practical tips and techniques that will improve developers' productivity immediately. Click here for the Session Grid and Headstart Seminars.

CFMUG members can register for the 3-day conference for just $995, up to $400 off the standard registration rate. Be sure to use code CFMUGS09 when you register. If you are not yet a CFMUG member, join now to get our discounted rate!

If you can't get away for the entire conference, you can attend any one day of the conference or Headstart Seminars for just $395. Email Doreen at registration@systemideveloper.com for a daily registration form. The April 14 Headstart Seminar topics include:
